who are we and why are we?

GOATPoetry is what's considered a "COVID" baby--as the original idea and seed was conceived once the CEO/Founder lost her corporate job in March 2020. The world was changing rapidly, we didn't know it then, but nothing would be the same--and that transformation included the birth of the brand.

The brand officially launched in January 2022 with its initial poetry event: The Birth, Commencement, & Installation of GOATPoetry. With CEO/Founder as host and featured artist in collaboration with The York County Arts Council & SC Arts Commision. A few months following in April 2022 was the second poetry event: The GOATPoetry Revolution in collaboration with the Center for the Arts in York County featuring four other poets of the U.S.

about the ceo/founder

I was born a country girl from the small town of Chester, South Carolina who had a dream, similar to Dr. King, that creatives could all be free. Nothing else in my life made sense before GOATPoetry and nothing about my life was the same afterwards.

GOATPoetry is more than a dream for me: it was a calling of my spirit. Once the seed was planted, it would not leave me be, gratefully so. I knew I could not leave this world without fulfilling this mission which is ultimately led by the divine; I'm simply the vessel in charge.

Highly unconventional with a fervent passion for art, I always knew my journey would be different. That whatever I was meant to do would be different. Simply because I didn't see it out in the world already. The only conclusion was that I was meant to be the one to birth it. Not just for me--but for collective humanity.

Purpose & Intent

"The overall intention and purpose of the brand is to provide the authentic and safe space for all creatives to express and showcase themselves/their talent as they see fit. Art is a beautiful phenomenon; it is something that deserves an outlet, a way to be seen and fulfilled through its own expression, and not all artists have a way of doing so. This is why we intentionally scout out and recruit those who are not necessarily mainstream/known even if all are certainly welcome. We are dedicated to creating an expansive collaborative community across the globe where every single party involved has the chance to be exactly who and how they are."
